Big News From That's So Enterprises!

That's So Enterprises LLC today announced the newest addition to their catalog. Mr. Dog's Festivus at the Hollow Tree Inn—a never-before-published story written by Albert Bigelow Paine in 1899— will be released by the family publisher in time for holiday 2015 enjoyment.

Featuring more of Adam McCauley's richly detailed pen and ink drawings and the familiar cast of Hollow Tree characters (including a couple of surprise newcomers, Mr. and Mrs. Hedgehog!), the book will be a handsome companion to last year's volume, Mr. Dog's Christmas at the Hollow Tree Inn.

The announcement was an unexpected delight to fans of Mr. Dog's Christmas, who weren't anticipating another book from the independent publishing house, at least not so soon. Betsy Cordes, Creative Director and Managing Member of That's So Enterprises says, "It's true. We weren't planning to produce another book for at least a year, but when we stumbled upon this hidden gem by Paine, it was just too exciting. We simply couldn't wait to share it!"

Perhaps most surprising, the discovery of this story among Paine's papers reveals that he may have been the originator of the alternative holiday, Festivus. Cordes explains: "Most people attribute Festivus to the 1990s TV sitcom, Seinfeld, but this story was found among Paine's papers and manuscripts from the eighteen-nineties. As you might imagine, this news has caused quite a stir among cultural historians. We feel the charm of Paine's story stands on its own, but naturally we welcome the additional interest generated by the Festivus-origination intrigue!"

Mr.Dog's Festivus at the Hollow Tree Inn will be available for preorder on this site later this spring. Join our mailing list for the announcement!

  • Hi, William. Please be sure to sign up for Mr. Dog’s Newsletter if you haven’t already. That’s where we’ll make the announcement when "Mr. Dog’s Christmas at the Hollow Tree Inn" is available for purchase and if/when there are opportunities for autographed copies. (see "contact us" link at the top of the page for more info) And I must sheepishly confess that we aren’t really publishing the "Festivus" book (see "Editor’s Note," above). Hope you can forgive us for that silly April Fool’s Day joke. :)
